Diagnosis and Early Intervention

At Down Syndrome of Louisville (DSL), we are passionate about meeting our members and families where they are. We hope to be a resource immediately after diagnosis whether that is prenatally or at birth. We have resources and support to offer as soon as our families are ready.

DSL is a contract provider with the state of Kentucky's Early Intervention Program. Our certified Developmental Therapists provide parents with strategies and techniques to further the child's brain development, learning styles and issues related to a diagnosis of Down Syndrome.

Our developmental intervention targets the unique development needs of children beginning from birth through age three and is available at home or at a child care facility.

Their weekly or bi-weekly visits focus on five developmental domains:

  • cognitive
  • physical
  • communication
  • social-emotional
  • self-help
